Abstract	The efficiency of any form of environmental policy and management often depends upon what we generally call “environmental valuation”; that is to say the manner in which we perceive and define the wide range of values that are inseparably connected with nature, wild life, and the globe’s natural resources. Furthermore, it is essential that these values are adequately protected or restored given the fact that the failure of many state policies to prevent environmental degradation is engendered by human incapacity or reluctance to appreciate and defend everything that nature stands for. The present research mainly consists in an attempt to analyze and shed light upon the broad concept of environmental values within the field of economics, environmental ethics, law and jurisprudence. It is the author’s wish that the conclusions reached by this study may serve as a motive in order to enhance environmental awareness and impart a general concern about how to comprehend, respect and protect nature’s inherent worth which is being compromised by human arrogance.
