Abstract	The project we engaged ourselves in this school year aimed at: 1) raising the pupil’s awareness of the use of herbs and aromatic plants in their daily life, 2) acquainting the pupils with the history, qualities and uses of these plants (e.g. in sectors like medicine, pharmacy and aromatherapy) and 3) helping them to learn how to protect and take care of local ecosystems. For the realization of the above aims activities were performed inside and outside the classroom. We made herbal teas, organized tea parties, made decorations, collected dried herbs in sachets, took care of flowers, compiled a herbs dictionary and finally collected information about the selected plants and presented it in our own class book. We also visited various interesting venues related to our topic (like the Botanical Garden, the Children’s Museum, the Agronomic School and the Centre of Environmental Education in Argyroupoli) and participated in educational programmes. But the most exciting aspect was our travel to Chios where we attended the programme of the Centre of Environmental Education of Omiroupoli. The final stage of the project was the presentation of our work to the whole school.
