Abstract Yannopoulos SJ, Petsalis N, Basbas S:
"Non-structural best management measures use for management of water bodies pollution due to stormwater runoff of interurban roads",
In PROTECTION2006: (Jul 2006)

Keywords
Abstract   The management of the pollution of water bodies, ground and surface, due to the stormwater runoff of interurban roads with non-structural Best Management Practices (BMPs) is examined in the framework of the present paper. More especially, the following issues are investigated: (a) the various non-structural BMPs for the management of stormwater runoff of interurban roads, (b) their selection criteria, (c) the reasons for which their use is a necessity, (d) the clarification of the term “non-structural measures for pollution control”, (e) the EU policy on this subject. Finally, specific measures, which the authorities must take into account in the framework of the programmes for the management of the runoff river basin according to the Directive 2000/60 /EC and the Greek law 3199/2003, are proposed.
